Instead of listing the Top apps, which I’ll save for later, I’ll list the studios themselves, source of all the awesomeness. If you know more, please share in the comments.
Atebits
Before they introduced their insanely popular Tweetie iPhone App, they already had quality Mac apps Tweetie and Scribbles under their belt. Tweetie for the Mac and the iPhone are by far my favourite Twitter clients.

MacRabbits
Responsible for insanely attractive mac applications Espresso, CSSEdit, Deskshade.

MadeBySofa
They’re the designers behind Checkout, VersionsApp and Disco.

CultudedCode
They may only have one app called Things, but it’s damn beautiful. If you get the chance to try them, you’ll see how much awesome their applications are. Watch the videos to get a good sense of their design.

RealMacSoftware
Creators of popular Mac applications RapidWeaver, LittleSnapper and now Socialite (previously known as EventBox).

Panic
A leader in Mac apps and makers of Coda, my favorite CSS editor. Their product line includes Transmit, Unison, Desktastic, CandyBar, Stattoo.

Iconfactory
You probably have heard of Iconfactory for their stunning icons. They happen to also be the creators of many useful Mac and iPhone apps. xScope, Twitterrific and Iconbuilder just to name a few. Note: they’re in their Halloween costume.

Omnigroup
They don’t have the most attractive site, but they make some of the most attractive Mac apps with solid product design. Omnigraffle, for which I use second to Photoshop has been a designer’s revelation for me. They also boast OmniFocus, OmniPlan (and more) in their products line.

BlackTree
The list wouldn’t be complete without Blacktree, creators of QuickSilver (I loove QuickSilver), a quick app launcher and one of the Mac essentials. They also make other light-weight applications such as Wildcard, Visor, Telekinesis and Nocturne.

MacPaw
Creators of CleanMyMac and MacHider.

really cool post! found some cool new apps and it was interesting to explore them from the perspectives of the studio rather than the individual applications.
keep up the good work!
